Nissan In-Brand Comparison: 2014 Murano vs 2014 Pathfinder

The 2014 market for SUVs has grown to include an overwhelming number of new vehicles. If you’ve been able to narrow your options down to Nissan or are still questioning whether their SUVs are what you and your family are looking for, we will be exploring the capabilities and differences between the following vehicles, the 2014 Nissan Murano and 2014 Nissan Pathfinder.

First up, the Nissan Murano, which is higher on the luxury end of the SUV spectrum. For its size, and considering that it’s a crossover SUV, the Murano earns respectable gas mileage, estimated around 24 highway mpg. Proven in its past model, the standard V6 engine has been a crowd pleaser, and has outperformed most others yet again this year. For its base price noted around $28,000 , the 2014 Murano has a surprisingly classy interior, and with each upgraded trim, the high-tech gadgets only continue to improve.

Materials were selected not only to enhance the sophisticated-look, but the feel as well. The 2014 Murano comfortably seats 5 passengers, and with all of the seats in the up-right position, it offers 31.6 c.u. ft. and more than doubles this number when all of the seats are folded down. Not best-in-class, but generous enough. Overall, the Murano is going to be a comfortable and powerful ride, one that is combines comfort and sophistication and is going to be a long-lasting vehicle without ever having to pay a luxury price.

The 2014 Nissan Pathfinder is going to be a somewhat similar vehicle starting around the same MSRP but will offer a slightly better number for fuel economy, estimated around 26 highway mpg. (This year, a new hybrid version has also become available.) Both vehicles offer the same powerful 3.5L V6 engines that provide up to 260 hp. The 2014 Pathfinder is Nissan’s largest cross-over SUV and is going to offer up to 3 rows of seating, increasing the number of passengers to 7 compared to the Murano’s 5 total passengers.

The 2014 Pathfinder  is available either in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Similar to the Murano, the 2014 Pathfinder also provides a high-class interior with durable and sleek materials in addition to the possibility of upgrading the technology capabilities with each advancing trim line. Both vehicles also performed well in terms of safety, and the 2014 Pathfinder in particular earned a 5 out of 5 in the government’s crash test ratings.

If either of these vehicle have sparked any interest at all and you’d like more information or to see them in person, don’t hesitate to ask or test-drive the vehicles  in order to experience their power and performance first-hand.
